Now anyone who has checked this blog before knows that I have challenged myself to take 101 photos before April. As part of that I used this photo
for the colour green. However, in November, as part as my role as a youth worker I got to take 2 amazing young people down to London so that they can sit in the green benches of the House of Commons and debate the most important issues concerning young people in the UK. Now I couldn’t pass up that opportunity so had to use those seats as the colour green for the challenge. Have no fear though I still love this picture so I re-edited and it now ‘cute’ 🙂
Anyhoo that still leaves me needing the colour green so this is the result from our trip to the Houses of Parliament. Hope you like it.
Just in case you didn’t know I’m a rugby league fan (all the Warriors photos on this blog might have given it away!!). I needed a sport photo for the 101 challenge and thought what better than an Autumn international: England v New Zealand. My very lovely wife decided to treat me to a trip to London and the 2nd of the 3 match series at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium. With hospitality no less 🙂
OK, as it turned out, the match wasn’t the greatest and, due in some way to the vast amount of alcohol consumed by me, the pictures weren’t too great either. However, the stadium did seem to help as it looked amazing and the lighting just worked. I did get this one shot and thought I’d try the tilt-shift effect in affinity too. Hope you like it.
…beside the seaside.
Soooo we went to Blackpool to see the illuminations and I took the camera; as these days it’s permanently attached to my hand ever since I started this 101 photos challenge (which really does get you funny looks when you use a public toilet as it makes it very difficult to do up your zip).
Anyway I’ve gone off on a tangent. These 2 photos are the best taken on the day.
This one took a bit of ‘Affinity-ing’ (it’s like photoshopping but using Affinity Photo instead) but I really like the way the sky turned out. Not sure how I got the misty effect under the pier as the day was quite a clear one.
Not sure this would be considered a great photo but once I had ‘affinity-ed’ it I just loved the colours. When I took this it was pitch black so had camera on Manual with the shutter speed on bulb, aperture on f11 and ISO 100. The Camera Remote Control (DSLR) app was amazing, anyone with an Android phone should download it from Google Play.
Here are 2015’s pumpkin carvings. This year we have Jessica’s first ever pumpkin and Daniel’s getting better and better every year.
Two of these even got into the 101 photos click the link and see which 2 😉
I was hoping to get all of the squad with Daniel and Jessica but unfortunately I am missing a few 😦
If the Wigan Warriors would allow us 5 minutes to pop into the dressing room at Old Trafford on Saturday we could get the full set.
Any who think George Williams deserves a spot in the 101 photos as my famous person, especially after getting Young Player of the Year.
OK I needed something to represent the seaside and was in Southport so thought why not take a photo of the pier. Every photographer worth their salt seems to have taken a photo of the underside of a pier at some time so I didn’t want to be different 🙂
Buildings are not my favourite photography subject but I seemed to have lucked out for my 101 photos. What with the building by night and now this one I’m very impressed with myself. 🙂
This is another photo taken while at work. We had taken some young people on a residential to Anglesey staying at the Conway Centre on the Menai Strait. The building in this photo is Plas Newydd Country House and Gardens, a grade 2 listed building and part of the National Trust. In the background you just see the Menai Strait and the Menai bridge.
