Just in case you didn’t know I’m a rugby league fan (all the Warriors photos on this blog might have given it away!!). I needed a sport photo for the 101 challenge and thought what better than an Autumn international: England v New Zealand. My very lovely wife decided to treat me to a trip to London and the 2nd of the 3 match series at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park Stadium. With hospitality no less 🙂
OK, as it turned out, the match wasn’t the greatest and, due in some way to the vast amount of alcohol consumed by me, the pictures weren’t too great either. However, the stadium did seem to help as it looked amazing and the lighting just worked. I did get this one shot and thought I’d try the tilt-shift effect in affinity too. Hope you like it.
…beside the seaside.
Soooo we went to Blackpool to see the illuminations and I took the camera; as these days it’s permanently attached to my hand ever since I started this 101 photos challenge (which really does get you funny looks when you use a public toilet as it makes it very difficult to do up your zip).
Anyway I’ve gone off on a tangent. These 2 photos are the best taken on the day.
This one took a bit of ‘Affinity-ing’ (it’s like photoshopping but using Affinity Photo instead) but I really like the way the sky turned out. Not sure how I got the misty effect under the pier as the day was quite a clear one.
Not sure this would be considered a great photo but once I had ‘affinity-ed’ it I just loved the colours. When I took this it was pitch black so had camera on Manual with the shutter speed on bulb, aperture on f11 and ISO 100. The Camera Remote Control (DSLR) app was amazing, anyone with an Android phone should download it from Google Play.
Panorama for my 101 photo challenge. I took this at festival in my mates back garden, it even has a touch of light graffiti thanks to the kids playing while I took it 😉
Reminds me of good company, good music and good beer.
The third colour (because black isn’t a colour!!!) and this time it’s green.
In the song ‘It’s not easy being green’, Kermit the frog expresses his ambivalence about his color, noting that green “blends in with so many other ordinary things” and wishing that he were some other color instead. During the bridge, Kermit realizes that there are some powerful associations with the color — “green can be big, like a mountain, or important, like a river, or tall like a tree.” In the end, he decides that he’s happy to be green — “it’s beautiful, and I think it’s what I want to be.” (taken from Muppet Wiki)
Jessica definitely loves being green especially the wings 🙂 so it’s made it to my 101
Final post of today I promise 🙂
As part of my 101 photo challenge I want to photo the rainbow colours plus pink and black, the 2 flowers will tick the red and pink boxes. The third picture was just something daft with all the pens picking on black for not being a colour!! (think my brain works differently to other people’s!!! 🙂 )
Was upset to start with when I fired up Affinity photo to find that the sketch filters weren’t there like photoshop!! But with a little posterising and layer blending this one didn’t out too bad 🙂 Definitely made the 101 photos so one more down.
My first attempt at tilt-shift effect in Affinity photo.
It’s not bad for first go but I’m thinking there will be better before April :-). For now it’s made the 101 photos
